I will set the record straight about Nvidia Shield pro and Amazon Fire TV Cube 3rd and 4K Max Firestick.
Fastest Navigation and shortest loading times.
1. FireTV Cube 3rd Gen 2022 model with Octa core Processor. CPU Benchmark 4900
2. Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 model with Tegra X1 comes second with CPU Benchmark 2900
3. FireTV Stick 4K Max 2023 CPU Benchmark 400
This is from extensive research and testing, The only thing better about the Nvidia Shield is the GPU, if you aren't gaming then its slower than the FireTV Cube for watching Netflix, Prime, Emby, Kodi, and other apps.
I don't do gaming so for me the Cube was a sweet deal on sale for $150 CAD I couldn't find any other device with as much CPU power and that worked as fast. For streaming, even while running Nord VPN App, it has 2 GB ram and an optimized android 9 based Fire TV OS and it wins in my testing. 4k play and 1080p streaming has higher quality viewing than Roku OS on my TCL QLED 5 series TV. Roku is a closed system and I wanted IPTV and I went with Tivimate and a fireTV cube 3rd Gen, the cube is not just for IPTV. It replaces the whole Roku OS with a much faster snappier and better operating system. I am sorry I bought Roku. But thankfully there is the firetv cube. I had extensively tested 4K Max firesticks 2023 model before returning them to buy the cube and they work really well but loading times are not as fast as the cube, and there is a considerable amount of buffering even with a speed test of 450mbps on wifi 6, the cube is 5 times faster and more responsive for streaming, I use it completely. I don't use roku anymore, set HDMI 1st device to the cube when i power on my cube the TCL tv turns on straight away to the cube UI. From there I have installed all my apps I regularly use.
EMBY media server app from fire app store is way way better than roku Emby, it is not glitchy like roku app and works flawlessly. There are alot more options for settings which I like that can be set for the display and way Emby works overall. I will never buy a Roku tv again instead I would buy google tv or android. Even a fireTV. in 2027 fire OS will cease to get updates I am good for 3 years with my cube they are now developing VEGA OS which will replace Fire OS 8 and above. The cube 3rd is based on android 9 but it is from testing equally as good as android 13,14 TV. In fact I like Prime video so it advertises new releases. Android Tv advertises Google Tv and it will spotlight Emby which I like and show continue watching and suggestions on the main UI. I would not buy an Nvidia shield unless I was interested in gaming. They are old technology and I am not paying $269.99 for some tv box outdated and made in 2019 I don't care how smooth it is. It has 3 GB ram an odd number which looks retarded. The Cube will outperform 3 GB ram with its 2 GB because of the optimized fire OS 7.6. I am currently looking at buying an Orange Pi 5B with wifi 6 it costs more than the cube and the processor is slower but it can run higher android versions and it has a better GPU. Extra ram means nothing as from testing and viewing utube reviews on other people who have tested android boxes 2 GB ram is more than sufficient to simultaneously run 7-8 apps at once on any android box. But saying that, I will probably still get the 8 Gb version of Orange pi so when i decide to not use it as a tv box anymore it can be used for some other project or as a desktop computer for monitoring my security cameras. The 4k max stick is the same speed as the Orange pi 2W little board and its supported for android 12 Tv at 1.5 Ghz is has the same benchmark as a raspberry pi 4B board. I tested the Pi4B running android 13 tv lineage OS 20.0 and it works really well. There is a hidden setting to get sound to work, I had to chose which HDMI output for sound as well as another setting hidden in the menu to activate the HDMI sound. No special configuration was needed for that but it took a while to set all the settings and set it up. It is always faster and easier to just buy the latest FireTV product for streaming and for viewing quality it is great. The cubes are a huge upgrade over the 4K MAX for speed and its noticeable, but on a budget of $60 you cant go wrong with just the 4K Max except that I have studied from reviews that they can die after approx 4-7 years but who cares because its time for an upgrade by then anyways. I would never buy Nvidia, especially not the developer board 4GB or 2GB with Tegra X1 as an android box. I looked at those and its an old processor much slower than the cube. There you have it, my testing results are that the 3rd gen firetv cube does everything to continue to impress me and at its price point it makes it the most optimized streaming device available on the market as of 2024.
